Statistics

I'm intrigued by Blogger's "popular post" feature under the Stats tab.  You can set it to show your most-read posts by the week, month, or all time.  Doesn't matter which timeframe I select, an old post titled "Surprising Hawk Poop" is almost always the most read. Another one that shows up more often than not includes a photo of the scat left behind in a bluebird nest after the fledglings have taken their first flight. I used the term "blobs of you-know-what" in the text of that post.

So, do I take this to mean that all a blog-writer has to do to generate a wider readership is wax on about the extraordinary wonders of bird poop? Such a curious species, homo sapiens. If the future anthropologists of a differently evolved life form from another planet ever study us, I'd love to know what they conclude. dkm

Yay! - the nasty has gone :))) No big red STOP sign.

Well, yes, it's sad that 'poop' garners a greater readership than 'bluebird' - but, what to say...? Maybe a poopseeker will be converted to other avian activities?!!

Oh dear, I wrote that, read it and decided it didn't come out the way I intended...

however you intended it, I liked it ---especially the word poopseeker/:)

Ha ha, PG! You must have one extra little gear in your head that the rest of us don't have. Now I'll forever think of hummingbirds as alien anthropologists.

Yay I'm here too :)

Poop is good :D

ps If you see lots of hits from Russia on your blog stats, don't click on their sites. They are spam. Don't click on any site that seem unusual.

Thanks for that. I did see hits from Russia and sometimes get unreadable comments and odd requests to advertise but I always delete them.
Can't deny the value of manure in the garden! Rotten and rich!

At least a year before the Lorax movie came out, I posted a photo of a Japanese maple in my neighborhood, and I identified it as a truffula tree. That post has since gotten far and away more hits than any other, mostly from people searching for "real truffula tree."

I should try writing about poop--knock that truffula tree right out of the #1 spot!

I remember that post! It was beautiful! I also remember doing a reality check on myself for wondering at first if there really was a truffula tree:-)

The best thing is that you have acquired it for a reasonably priced price.
